The Johnny Doherty Festival is a traditional music festival in memory of the late John Doherty, a local fiddle legend.

The weekend will include concerts, sessions, workshops, dances, teaching and lots of informal events, all based around the traditional music of the area. The focus will be on participation and fun, and anyone interested in traditional Irish music and dance will find something for them.

Following on from the huge success of last years festival which brought people from all over the world to the scenic town of Ardara, the organisers are confident of a successful weekend again this year. The organisers hope to provide something for everyone to enjoy, with Concerts, Ceilis, Barn Dances, Sean Nós, Set Dancing, Workshops, Pub and Street Sessions.

Friday 22nd September:

10pm, Nesbitt Arms. Ceili and sets

Saturday 23rd September:

11am - 1pm, Heritage Centre. Sets and Ceili Workshop with ’Gerard Butler & Clement Gallagher’

2pm-4pm, Heritage Centre. 2 Hand Dance Workshop with ’Anne Connaghan & Connie McKelvey’.

8pm, Nesbitt Arms. ’ALTAN’ in concert.

Sunday 24th September:

11am-1pm, Heritage Centre. Sean Nós Dance Workshop with ’Gerard Butler’.

2pm, Nesbitt Arms. Afternoon Ceili and sets

Street and Pub sessions all weekend
