This Irish thatched cottage has been restored to its former glory, retaining every detail of its original design with modern comforts discreetly integrated to make your stay more enjoyable. Set back from the roadway entry is through a hedged laneway with rambling roses which lead to Ardroe Cottage with its thatched roof and half door.
The original ‘Irish living room’ features a flagged floor and open fire. It is traditionally furnished with an antique dresser of century old delph earthenware, butter churn, spinning wheel, and old-style long table. The glow from the turf fire adds to the warmth of the welcome. The main double bedroom upstairs has a charm and beauty all of its own with a coved ceiling and arched doorway. The second double bedroom is situated above the fireplace, with small panelled windows.
Ardroe Cottage also has its own charming and tree sheltered gardens containing garden furniture. This traditional thatched Irish cottage is located in a peaceful rural setting in unspoilt countryside convenient to several beautiful sandy beaches, lakes, mountains, hills, cliffs and the rugged Atlantic coastline. It is close to the small hamlet of Portsalon with its 18 hole golf links and the stunning blue flag Ballymastocker beach.
Margaret and Michael will be at the cottage for your arrival and any special requirements will be catered for as best as possible. White bed linen, white towels and fuel for the open fire is supplied. The cottage is featured in the highly regarded Alistair Sawdays ‘Special Places to Stay’.
