Donegal County Council has launched a new website for local businesses to help people shop locally and safely. Working with over 300 businesses across the country, the campaign will use the www.buydonegal.ie website and social channels to showcase the vast range of gifts, products and experiences people can find locally.
#BuyDonegal provides Christmas shoppers with the chance to shop for gifts under the one platform and provides a new tool to help them buy locally, and boost small businesses in the area who are feeling the pinch after a tough year.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, small independent businesses and the hospitality sector have seen a major reduction in sales. But as the festive period is the peak selling season, choosing local and independent services over the big names can make a huge difference.
Speaking about the #BuyDonegal this Christmas initiative, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council Cllr Rena Donaghey said “By thinking local first online as well as in person, we are helping the people who live around us, protecting jobs in our communities and investing in the future by ensuring local businesses are there for us in life beyond the pandemic.”
Donegal County Council is reinforcing the #BuyDonegal message throughout December to highlight the range of business and hospitality offerings available within the county.
