Santa Returns to Donegal Railway Museum This Weekend

Donegal Railway Museum in Donegal Town has already been having a busy festive season this year, having hosted the Bluestack Foundation Christmas Party last Saturday 6th December and organised the Donegal Town Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday 7th December. This weekend, however, they’re preparing for a very special arrival to the Old Station House – Santa Claus himself!

Over the weekends of 12th-14th and 19th-21st December, Santa will be posted up  in the museum for the Polar Express Santa Experience, a locally legendary, family-friendly event which includes Christmas crafts, miniature train rides, a visit to meet Santa and Mrs Claus, and of course a transport-themed pre-Christmas gift. Friday 12th is the special Sensory Evening for children and adults with additional needs, with extended visit times, lighting adjustments, and any other requirements met to ensure that everyone can enjoy this magical festive experience.

Discussing the museum’s Christmas programme, Santa said:

I look forward to my residency in the Donegal Railway Museum every year – the kids here are some of the best-behaved in the world, and I always have great ‘craic’ (as I believe they say in Donegal) with the parents and grandparents too. I especially enjoy this event as I’m something of a railway buff myself; when I’m not carrying a load of presents around the world, I like to leave the sleigh at home and take the Polar Express!

Tickets for the Polar Express Santa Experience are €20 per child and €5 per adult, with a 15% discount for four or more people applied automatically at checkout. Bookings and further information (including the full timetable) can be found on donegalrailway.com or by calling the museum on 074 9722655.
