Earagail Arts Festival Launched at Croithlí Distillery

Earagail Arts Festival: 

Paul Brown, CEO and Artistic Director of the festival, emphasised the rich cultural diversity reflected in this year’s programme. He highlighted the global performances spanning from Catalan circus artists to Brazilian capoeira, alongside local traditions from Tory, Arranmore, and Gola islands. This includes indigenous spoken word, music, and dance events, as well as performances by Boubacar Traore and Donegal’s young rising star, Muireann Bradley.

Joe Devenney, one of the distillery directors, spoke about the festival's unique cultural mix, celebrating the arts as a reflection of local stories and traditions. He expressed pride in hosting the event and extended thanks to everyone involved in making the festival possible.

Méabh Conaghan, Chair of the festival’s Board of Directors, acknowledged the many volunteers and business community members supporting the festival, urging continued and increased support.

Deputy Pearse Doherty, in his speech, highlighted the personal and communal significance of the festival, noting the enrichment culture and arts bring to lives. He praised the festival's efforts to make events accessible amidst cost-of-living challenges, stressing the importance of affordable and free events for all.

Doherty also lauded the festival’s broad geographic reach within the county, from Inishowen to Castlefinn, and the islands, encouraging people to embrace the cultural offerings.

In closing, Doherty reflected on the transformative power of arts and culture, urging attendees to immerse themselves in the festival's experiences.

Ciara Sugrue, Head of Festivals & Events at Fáilte Ireland, expressed the organisation's pleasure in supporting this year’s festival. She underscored the role of festivals in showcasing Ireland's rich heritage and culture, driving tourism revenue, and fostering sustainable development.
