St Patrick's Day Parades in Donegal 2025

The national feast day is almost upon us and community groups all over the county are preparing for lots of colourful parades up and down Donegal. We've listed all that we know about here!

Ardara 
The annual parade takes place on Sunday, March 16 at 1:30pm. To mark the 30th Anniversary of the first St.Patricks Day parade in Ardara we are going to make this years parade the biggest and most spectacular day yet. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place floats! NEW: Special prize for Best School! The Parade takes place on Sunday 16th March, starting at 1.30pm from the Church Car Park and all participants are asked to be there before 1pm. Join us for one of the best parades in the County, with fun and entertainment for all. Marching bands confirmed from Killybegs, Kilcar and Ardaghy. Ballyshannon
This year the parade will celebrate the life and works of musician Rory Gallagher. The parade takes place on Monday 17th March at 2pm.

Bundoran
The parade will take place on Monday 17th March starting 3.30pm moving from East to West up Main Street.
At least four marching bands have confirmed their participation on the day as well as a large college group from the United States.

Buncrana
The Buncrana St. Patrick's Day Parade is a much loved annual event in Buncrana, Co. Donegal, celebrating our heritage and community spirit. Traditionally, the parade begins at 3 pm on March 17th, through the main street. Festivities in the parade are family friendly and the whole community takes part, along with music, entertainment, and creative floats. The parade is organized by the St Patrick's Day committee that collaborates with local residents, business owners, and groups to ensure the event's success.

Creeslough
Creeslough will host their Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Monday March 17th with prizes for the best float (1st, 2nd & 3rd place) as well as the most sustainable float and the best decorated house/shop front. The theme for this year is “local legends past & present” and the fun kicks off at 12pm. The parade will leave the pitch behind St. Michaels Church and going as far as the Wild Atlantic Camp where floats will turn and go back to the start.

Donegal Town
Donegal Town Parade will begin at 3pm on St. Patrick’s Day. Starting at the St. John Bosco Centre for walking participants, over Tirconaill Street, left towards the Diamond, around to Main Street, left down Water Street and back around for a second loop.
All vehicles enter from Killybegs side of Drumrooske Business Park from 1:30.
All Pedestrians and bands assemble at the St John Bosco centre from 1:30 (No vehicles to enter Bosco yard). Parade will start at 3pm. No vehicles will be allowed enter unless declaration form is completed.

Dunfanaghy
Enjoy St Patrick’s Day in Dunfanaghy. The parade will begin at 1:30pm leaving from Moore’s. There’s prizes for the best float. Funfair in operation Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Dunkineely
This year’s St Patrick’s Parade in Dunkineely will take place at 1.30pm on Saturday 15th March.
Plenty of floats and fun for all in the centre of the village. The theme is small town, big parade!

Gaoth Dobhair
This year's St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Monday 17th and is scheduled to begin at 2pm leaving Bunbeg Crossroads and will be arriving at Derrybeg Chapel. 

Glencolmcille
The parade will take place on Monday 17th of March at 3pm, leaving the Fire Station and heading up the trown concluding at Halla Mhuire where there will be Irish dancing and prizegiving.

Kilcar
All the fun of the national holiday kicks off in Kilcar on Monday March 17th at 12 noon. The parade will travel from the parish hall and make its way through the village.

Killybegs
Killybegs St Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Monday 17th at 3pm. There will be prizes for the best float, most topical float and best music. 

Letterkenny
Letterkenny St.Patrick's Day Parade is the biggest Parade in County Donegal.
Traditional family day on Monday March 17th. Entertainment at Courthouse Junction from 1.45pm. Photo Booth and entertainment at the Market Square. Parade starts at 3pm

Mevagh
Mevagh St Patricks Parade kicks off at 1pm on Monday March 17th.

Moville
Moville’s award winning St Patrick’s Festival takes place from Friday 14th March to Monday 17th March with a bingo, quiz, 5k, car treasure hunt taking place across the weekend and the big parade happening on Monday 17th at 2:30pm with music in the square from 2-5pm with the David Craig Band. Floats are welcome from everywhere with no entry fee.
