Donegal Railway Heritage Museum Release Strategic Plan 2026-2030

In recent weeks, Donegal Railway Heritage Museum have announced a series of new grant-funded initiatives and developments, including their successful receipt of LEADER funding via DLDC for a miniature railway feasibility study; their new Shared Island-funded Reconnecting Through Culture Project; and their recent acquisition of a selection of exciting new railway artefacts at auction. Now, they release their Strategic Plan 2026-2030.

This document outlines the philosophy that will guide them as they strive to become one of the North-West's flagship attractions and community amenities over the coming years.
Museum Manager Marty Gilroy said:

"We are very proud to launch our Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, a document that gives shape to the direction we have been developing at the museum over the past year. This plan sets out our intention to broaden our focus and engage wider audiences, placing greater emphasis on the social and cultural contexts of our railway history and the human stories that shaped and were shaped by it. While we intend to embrace new directions, however, this document also reaffirms our commitment to our core mission: to rescue, restore, showcase and celebrate the rich railway heritage of Donegal.

The launch presents us with an opportunity to invite stakeholders and members of the community to get in touch, visit the museum, see what we’re up to, and tell us about the kinds of projects they would like to see us work on in the coming years. We appreciate any and all feedback and support, and we look forward to welcoming new faces and old friends in the coming weeks, months and years.”

More information, updates and contact information can be found on donegalrailway.com or the museum’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
