Following on from a series of Tourism Cluster Development Workshops held throughput the county last November, Fáilte Ireland has announced a new practical, free, programme - Creating Engaging Tourism Content in the Age of AI.
The conversations held during the development workshops were honest, practical and incredibly insightful. Business owners, tourism providers and destination stakeholders spoke openly about the real challenges they face when it comes to digital marketing and online content:
- Feeling pressure to constantly create content
- Trying to keep up with trends and algorithms
- Uncertainty around AI and digital tools
- Limited time and resources
- Wanting content to feel authentic, not forced or overly polished
But alongside those challenges, something else became very clear.
There is a huge appetite within Donegal’s tourism sector to tell better stories, showcase genuine local experiences and build stronger connections with visitors online.
That feedback directly shaped the development of a brand-new practical programme:
Creating Engaging Tourism Content in the Age of AI
The programme workshop will take place on Wednesday 10th of June at the Radisson Blu Letterkenny from 09:30am - 3:30pm. Lunch will be served.

This workshop was not created in isolation. It was built directly from the learning needs, concerns and ambitions shared by participants during the cluster development process.
The programme focuses on helping tourism businesses across the Wild Atlantic Way create stronger, more engaging content in a way that feels manageable, realistic and true to their business identity.
Rather than chasing trends, the workshop focuses on:
- Authentic storytelling
- Capturing meaningful everyday moments
- Creating content people genuinely connect with
- Using simple AI tools to reduce overwhelm and save time
- Building confidence with digital content creation
Participants will explore how to turn real customer experiences, local stories and day-to-day interactions into engaging online content that reflects the personality of their business.
The workshop also introduces practical AI tools that can help businesses:
- Generate content ideas
- Create captions and content plans
- Develop reels, posts and stories
- Simplify the overall content creation process
Most importantly, this programme recognises something many tourism businesses expressed throughout the Donegal cluster workshops:
People connect with real stories, real places and real experiences.
AI should support authenticity, not replace it.
This initiative represents an important next step in supporting tourism businesses across Donegal to strengthen their digital presence while remaining grounded in what makes the region special in the first place.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas, experiences and insights during the Tourism Cluster Development Workshops. Your input directly influenced the design of this programme and is helping shape future supports for the sector across Donegal.
