Go Visit Inishowen launches new trail guides at Meet and Greet event, supported by Fáilte Ireland

Inishowen, Co Donegal – Go Visit Inishowen has officially launched a new series of trail guides at a recent Meet and Greet event, marking another important milestone in the ongoing development of the Inishowen tourism offering. The guides have been developed with funding support from Fáilte Ireland as part of its continued delivery of the Inishowen Destination and Experience Development Plan.

The four Trail Guides, Heritage, Hillwalking, Arts & Crafts and Beaches in a hand pocket-size format include not only highlights in each category, but through the use of QR codes, links to the main GVI website with more detailed information for visitors as well as lots more sites to visit.

The launch event brought together tourism businesses, accommodation providers, activity operators and community partners from across the peninsula, providing an opportunity to connect, share insights and celebrate the strong collaboration underpinning the project. The new trail guides are designed to enhance the visitor experience, making it easier for visitors to discover Inishowen’s rich landscapes, heritage, outdoor activities and welcoming communities in a more immersive and sustainable way.

Aligned with Fáilte Ireland’s destination-led approach, the guides reflect the unique sense of place that defines Inishowen and support the region’s ambition to grow its appeal as a compelling year-round destination. They will now be distributed throughout the North West, including Northern Ireland, helping to strengthen cross-border visitor flows and extend Inishowen’s reach to new markets.

Speaking at the launch, Niall McCaughan, Chair of Go Visit Inishowen, highlighted the importance of partnership and local engagement:

“The support we have received from Fáilte Ireland through the Inishowen Destination and Experience Development Plan has been invaluable. In recent times we have noticed that some visitors have asked for information on particular topics like heritage, so listening to the public and working hand in hand with Failte Ireland, we were able to meet this need. These trail guides simply would not have been possible without that backing and without the tremendous work and collaboration from agencies, tourism businesses and trade partners right across Inishowen. There has been a real willingness to work together, share ideas and showcase the very best of what this destination has to offer. The guides will now be distributed throughout the North West, including Northern Ireland, helping more visitors to discover Inishowen in a meaningful and memorable way. The new set of Guides are also available at the Go Visit Tourism office in Buncrana, and available to download at https://scanner.topsec.com/?d=1317&r=show&u=www.govisitinishowen.com&t=6ede8c187b579b6e66bc9d6b14cd002a6472b001 ”

Fáilte Ireland’s investment in the project reflects its ongoing commitment to developing sustainable destinations by supporting industry collaboration, enhancing the quality of visitor experiences and spreading the benefits of tourism more widely throughout local communities.

The Meet and Greet event also underscored the strong momentum behind Go Visit Inishowen’s programme of work, with the new trail guides set to play a central role in encouraging longer stays, deeper exploration and repeat visits to the peninsula.

Ends.
