Adhering to social distancing guidelines, our committee put measures in place to allow a meeting to take place safely to discuss the future of the 2020 Agricultural Show.
After careful consideration, and taking all factors into account we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Clonmany Agricultural Show.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have taken into account our trade stands and businesses as well as our exhibitors who benefit greatly each year from our show. However, we have also taken into account the safety, interest and wellbeing of our visitors, of our volunteers of our own committee and of course of the people in our great little Clonmany community.
We value the safety and welfare of every person associated with our show in any way, above all else. For this reason, to attempt to run such a large event, or any alternative, smaller show or event in its place, in such uncertain times, would be irresponsible, reckless, and unfair to all the people who are working so hard in our community to keep themselves and others safe.
We have also taken the decision to cancel our 2020 Grand Prize Draw. All ticket holders who have already purchased a ticket will receive a full refund in the coming weeks. We will also be in contact with all our sponsors who have already given a generous donation to arrange a refund or an option to suspend the sponsorship until next year. We ask you all kindly for your patience at this time to allow our committee to process these.
We would finally like to take this opportunity as always to thank everyone who continues to support our show. We were looking forward as always to delivering a 2020 show for everyone to enjoy, however this is not to be, but we look forward to welcoming you all in 2021, when your support will be needed more than ever. We would also like to thank our trade stands and exhibitors, so many of which had already committed to attending our show this year. Without you all, our show would not be the success it is. We would also like to thank our landowners and road owners, who without their kind permission and help, our show could not take place. A final word of thanks to our volunteers who each year put their shoulder to the wheel and pull together in the spirit of community. We have no doubt this year would have been no different and we hope 2021 will be the same.
We as a committee have already put an awful lot of effort into a 2020 show, a show with new ideas that was bigger and better than ever. There is no one more disappointed to not deliver on our hard work than us. But we will use this as an opportunity to come back with a superb show in 2021. A bigger, better and more entertainment filled show than ever before.
In the meantime we wish every person reading this, safety and good mental wellbeing through these difficult and strange times. We would like to acknowledge the good work and community spirit of all those around us pulling together in this time of crisis, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the Clonmany Agricultural Show, Sheepdog Trials, and Taste of Inishowen Food Festival, in happier and safer times.
