18th September 2020, Letterkenny
Connect through culture on Friday 18th of September! Le chéile trí chultúr ar 18ú Meán Fómhair!
We’re excited to confirm that Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir will return on Friday 18 Sep 2020.
Given the events of recent months, there are obviously some new challenges this year, but we know that we can still create a memorable night. Many of this year’s events will take place online / digitally, but we plan to include safe offline events too.
Culture Night is an annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts.
The programme for 2020 will offer diverse events online and offline, that celebrate our unique local cultural identity
People are invited to enjoy a night-time experience of all types of culture - visual art, music, theatre, sculpture, spoken word, dance, moving image and more. The trail through Culture Night, Letterkenny can take you all over the county, with online and offline events happening in diverse places, traditional cultural venues and other, unexpected locations.
Culture Night has grown from a relatively small scale cultural event staged only in Dublin in 2006 to the significant national cultural event it now is, with some 350,000 people visiting museums, galleries, historic houses, artists’ studios and cultural centres across the country.
Culture Night in Letterkenny is co-ordinated by Donegal County Council Cultural Services and assisted by local company Murphy Communications. A simultaneous programme for Culture Night, co-ordinated by Ealaín na Gaeltachta, will also take place throughout the Gaeltacht areas of the county.
Culture Night is brought to you by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs in partnership with the regional arts offices, local authorities and cultural organisations throughout the island of Ireland.
