Make-A-Wish helps children with life-threatening medical conditions, such as cancer and leukaemia by granting a “wish” to a child. The wishes aim to bring hope and happiness to the child and their families, providing a break from the typical cycle of hospitals, doctors and treatment. Examples of granted wishes include;
· Bringing children to Disneyland and Legoland,
· Providing bedroom makeovers and wheelchair swings, and
· Organising meet and greets with children’s heroes, such as sports stars and actors.
Make-A-Wish is a fantastic organisation that does amazing work for children dealing with serious conditions. Each of the three of us have known children and families of children who have had to deal with conditions no child should ever have to deal with. We have seen and heard, first hand, about the tremendous work and wishes that Make-A-Wish provide to such children and their families and have seen the amazingly positive impact they can have.
However, Make-A-Wish does not receive any government funding, and relies heavily on fundraising to continue to grant wishes. Which is why we want to try and raise as much as possible to try and help grant as many wishes as possible.
Monies raised shall all go towards aiding in the granting of wishes to children and their families who need them. 50% of money collected shall go to Make-A-Wish Republic of Ireland and 50% of the money collected shall go to Make-A-Wish UK Northern Ireland, so all money shall go towards granting wishes to children and families on the island of Ireland.
