The Johnny Doherty Festival is a traditional music festival in memory of the late John Doherty, a local fiddle legend.
Held in the scenic heritage town of Ardara in Co Donegal, The Johnny Doherty Festival aims to promote the music and dance traditions of the area. John Doherty was a world renowned traditional musician who was born in and spent much time in Ardara, and is responsible for much of the local music. The festival presents, in concert and in informal settings, some of the best local artists as well as some internationally renowned musicians, singers and dancers. Artists involved this year include Dermot Byrne, Yvonne Casey & Steve Cooney, Four Men & A Dog and The Friel Sisters There are also several traditional dance workshops and ceilis over the weekend, as well as traditional sessions in various venues around the town.
