We may be a small town, but boy do we know how to throw a festival! Start planning your trip to the 53rd annual Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival today. We are a warm, family-friendly festival held from July 25th to August 3rd 2020.
Featuring contestants from all corners of the world The Mary From Dungloe brings elegance and charm to the festival. Looking for a glamorous night out? Be sure to get your tickets for the fashion show and the eagerly anticipated Gala Ball before it’s too late!
You can’t beat the buzz of Main Street! This year featured acts include 80’s band Mid Term Break, the famous Whistling Donkeys and Ireland’s No.1 folk and ballad group The Molly Maguires as well as home favourites The Mutley Crew. Country Sunday showcases a line up of amazing country artists including the main man himself, Daniel O’Donnell.
Looking for something just a little quieter? Be sure to attend one of our intimate classical concerts featuring Aspects of Opera and an evening with classical guitarist Troy Devaney.
Maybe traditional Irish music is your passion? La Gaelach day offers master-classes and workshops as well as a host of traditional bands playing music specially composed for the festival.
Perhaps you would like to dance the night away? If so we’ve got you covered with the fantastic Swingtime Starlets accompanied by dance group Belfast Swing or acclaimed folk and bluegrass group The Old Time Sailors followed by a silent disco!
The festival offers a variety of family and kids events, with storytelling, puppets, musical theatre and dance workshops, there’s always something to do. Don’t forget to stop by the “Day on the Farm” experience with its teddy bears picnic! The annual fun day for kids sponsored by Supervalu is always a big hit too.
Following last year’s run-away success there will be a gamer’s day and comic con for kids of all ages as well as quizzes and the junior disco to select this years Little Miss Mary and Mr Escort, its not to be missed!
This years cultural events include a variety of heritage walks, history talks and a new exhibition by the Donegal museum entitled “A Vanishing World - The Landed Gentry of Donegal”
For art lovers there is the annual festival art exhibition as well as the Donegal artisans fair and farmers market, just in case, you would like to take a little piece of local craft home with you to treasure.
Enjoy the rugged Wild Atlantic Way through outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, scenic boat trips and surfing. Or if you don’t feel like getting your feet wet explore it in comfort by taking part in our mystery car treasure hunt!
Our festival culminates in the spectacular Carnival Parade sponsored by the Cope Dungloe, featuring bands and dancers from all over Donegal it is sure to be a feast for the eyes. Finally, attend the televised Crowning Cabaret where our 2020 Mary From Dungloe will be announced live on TG4.
