Main Street, Buncrana

Find out more

2nd to the 8th of April 2020 - Buncrana

Irelands beautiful Lough Swilly in County Donegal, along the Wild Atlantic Way, was the setting for a dramatic story which changed the life of John Newton, a foul-mouthed slave trader who went on to pen one of the most famous and well loved songs of all time - Amazing Grace. Newton later mentored William Wilberforce in his long battle to abolish the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Read John Newtons STORY.

The beautiful Irish town of Buncrana, just 45 minutes drive from Malin Head (Irelands most northerly point), less than 30 minutes from the city of Derry and 60 minutes from the Giants Causeway is home to the lovely Amazing Grace Park and the inspirational Amazing Grace Viewing Point.

In April, Buncrana celebrates this special link with the annual Amazing Grace Festival.

The eight annual Amazing Grace Festival will take place from 2 to 8 April 2020. Our community arts festival features music, art, history and heritage, fashion, dance, drama, storytelling, food and family fun. Save the Date!!
