Assaranca Waterfall (Eas a' Ranca)

L2843 Bracky/Killasteever Road,Via N56,Ardara

Located just a few kilometres from Ardara on the scenic route to Maghera Beach, Assaranca Waterfall is one of Donegal’s most accessible and spectacular natural attractions. The waterfall tumbles over a rugged rock face into a dark pool below, creating a breathtaking sight that changes with the seasons and becomes especially dramatic after heavy rainfall.

Unlike many waterfalls, Assaranca requires very little walking, with a small roadside parking area allowing visitors to admire the falls almost immediately upon arrival. Surrounded by moss-covered rocks and lush greenery, it is a favourite stop for photographers and nature lovers, offering a peaceful setting and an ever-changing display of rushing water.

Many visitors combine a stop at Assaranca Waterfall with nearby Maghera Beach and its famous sea caves, making it an ideal addition to a day exploring southwest Donegal. Whether you’re following the Wild Atlantic Way or simply seeking one of the county’s hidden gems, Assaranca Waterfall is a memorable stop in every season.
