Sea Angling Donegal bay has some of the best fishing in the country with a wide variety of species to be caught. Species caught during the 2012 season include Shark, Skate, Tope, Rays, Turbot, Conger, Ling, Cod, Pollack, Coley, Gurnards, John Dory, Plaice, Flounder, Dab, Megrim, Dog Fish and Wrasse well over thirty species in all. Charter boat fishing is lively and interesting even before a line is cast; the skipper will assemble a group of anglers who may or may not know each other at the beginning of the day, but who will surely be well acquainted by the end of it, especially if they have had sport with a good catch. Tackle can be hired, so all the angler needs is a good set of waterproofs and a sense of adventure. They encounter Minke Whale, Common Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, and Harbour Porpoise, Basking Shark, and Sunfish on a regular bases in Donegal Bay. Dolphins in the right conditions the will play around the boat. Common Dolphin and Bottlenose Dolphins are often found in large, socially active groups and are often seen, bow-riding, surfing, lob tailing and breaching. They can leap several metres out of the water. Bottlenose, like many other whales and dolphins, are social animals.
